چکیده
Abstract A billet is a bar made from crude steel which surface contains scales are rich in iron oxides. This study presents the carbothermal reduction of formed billets. The process included reaction oxides contents with carbon (in ratio 5:1) and annealing tubular furnace under argon atmosphere. occurred reactions discussed using thermodynamic calculations thermal analysis indicate three-stage Fe 3 O 4 ➔ FeO C ➔α-Fe intermediate at interval temperature 960 1300 °C. X-ray diffraction confirms to α-Fe minor presence unreacted C, magnetite wustite. Mössbauer spectroscopy was performed room where typical sextet corresponding dominant shown as well wustite, cementite lesser extent. magnetization measurements confirm ferromagnetic state α-Fe.

Physical Modeling of Steel Delivery during Thin Slab Continuous Casting
A full scale physical model of a thin slab caster with a four-hole design submerged entry nozzle (SEN) was constructed. On the basis of the dimensionless Reynolds and Froude similitude criteria, the fluid flow in a full-scale model is similar to that of the actual system and, hence, the data obtained from the water model can be applied to the actual system. In order to determine the optimum ope...
متن کاملContinuous Casting of Steel
Continuous casting is used to solidify most of the 750 million tons of steel produced in the world every year. Like most commercial processes, continuous casting involves many complex interacting phenomena. Most previous advances have been based on empirical knowledge gained from experimentation with the process. To further optimize the design and improve the continuous casting process, mathema...
متن کاملPrediction of optimal operating parameters for continuous casting of billets
Process optimization determines process parameters that maximize or minimize (optimize) so aspect of a process (the obieciive function), while ensuring that the process operates wr established limits. In this work a mathematical model that simulates heat flow and solidification continuously cast steel strand is coupled with mathematical optimization techniques to predict opt process parameters ...
متن کاملSolidification and Particle Entrapment during Continuous Casting of Steel
Avoiding particle entrapment into the solidifying shell of a steel continuous caster is important to improve the quality of the continuous cast product. Therefore, the fluid flow dynamics in the steel melt and mushy zone, heat transfer and solidification of the steel shell, as well as the motion and entrapment of inclusion particles during the casting process were investigated using computation...
